Announcing the ATHENA Leadership Award® Program! We are excited to promote and honor local women and men for professional excellence, community service, and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.
Since the ATHENA International program’s inception in 1982, over 7,500 individuals from all professional sectors have received  awards in over 500 communities in the United States, Canada, China, India, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and, most recently, Bermuda.
These awards actively celebrate the ATHENA mission of supporting, developing, and honoring women leaders, inspiring women to achieve their full potential—creating balance in leadership worldwide.

ATHENA

Young Professional Leadership Award
The ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award is an extension of the original ATHENA Leadership Award® to honor emerging leaders in your community.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative in her business or profession
  • Provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in her community
  • Clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally in the Triangle
  • Nominees are 40 years of age or younger.
  • Nominees may represent either the profit or not-for-profit sector.
  • Past nominees may be nominated again
Note: Past ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award Recipients are not eligible for nomination.

Awards Applications open March 19th, 2024, and close April 30, 2024.

Recipients will be announced at the September 2024 Awards Luncheon

ATHENA

 Leadership Award®

ELIGIBILITY

  • Demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession
  • Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community
  • Actively assist women in achieving their full leadership potential
  • Nominees may represent either the profit or not-for-profit sector.
  • There is no minimum or maximum age qualification that must be met by Nominees.

Awards Applications open March 19th, 2024, and close April 30, 2024.

Recipients will be announced at the September 2024 Awards Luncheon

ATHENA

Male Champion Award

ELIGIBILITY

  • Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community
  • Demonstrate being a catalyst for change by challenging organizational structures
  • Demonstrate active efforts to address gender inequities either in professional settings or in the community
  • ATHENA Male Champion Award Nominees may represent either the profit or not-for-profit sector.
  • There is no minimum or maximum age qualification that must be met by ATHENA Male Champion Award Nominees.

Awards Applications open March 19th, 2024 and close April 30, 2024.

Recipients will be announced at the September 2024 Awards Luncheon

ATHENA

Servant Leader Award

ELIGIBILITY

  • Nominate a woman or man who demonstrates The Eight Principles of Enlightened Leadership™ in all aspects of their life.
  • Demonstrates longevity, exemplary service, and significant contributions as an ATHENA of the Triangle volunteer/supporter.
  • Provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community.
  • Promotes, amplifies, advocates for women and girls.

Awards Applications open March 19th, 2024 and close April 30, 2024.

Recipients will be announced at the September 2024 Awards Luncheon
