BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Dr. Atoya Hodges
Founder | Atoya Hodges LLC and O/X Society
Dr. Atoya Hodges has over Twenty-five years of progressive leadership, educational, operational, spiritual, and holistic service experience. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Accounting and Business Management from Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, NC. Her passion for service to others and passion for business, mental health and helping educate others. She is currently an entrepreneur, speaker, author, business, life, mental health, personal development strategist and educator.
This mother of two sons keeps her hands and mind diligently active with upcoming projects, wellness initiatives, and breaking barriers for women of color in business around the world.

Teena Aytch-Burwell
HR professional
Teena Aytch-Burwell is a seasoned HR professional with over 14 years of experience in various industries from manufacturing to non-profit. She currently works as the North American HR Business Partner at Lenovo. As a passionate advocate for women’s leadership development & STEM education amongst our youth, Teena brings a unique blend of expertise, passion, and enthusiasm to Athena of the Triangle
With a strong background in event planning and employee engagement, Teena has held the event coordinator title with Athena for the last 2 years. She has helped the board to execute several major Athena events including the annual Awards Luncheon, Women’s Leadership Conference, and most recently, 2025 Girls STEM Conference at Meredith College. As the board liaison, Teena has used her strengths strategic thinking, relationship building, people advocacy to help support the strategic vision and commitment to inspiring & supporting emerging, as well as established leaders across the Triangle. Outside of the boardroom, Teena enjoys hosting events, gardening, cooking, & traveling. She has 3 children (Madison 14, Tristian 12, & Dylan 4), and has been married for 12 years.
Teena began volunteering with Athena of the Triangle in 2018 because she believed that everyone woman should be inspired, encouraged, and pushed to achieve their highest potential, regardless of circumstances. From childhood experiences to professional milestones, her dedication to women’s leadership development and STEM advocacy, is deeply rooted in her journey. She looks forward to her new seat as an Athena of the Triangle board member, and is ecstatic about helping the organization grow, all while remaining her authentic self.

Dr. Ming Gao
EDU Portfolio Strategy Manager at Lenovo
Ming Gao is a strategic thinker, driving impactful solutions at the intersection of technology and education. She currently serves as the Worldwide Portfolio Strategy Manager at Lenovo, where she combines strategic vision and analytical expertise to deliver innovative solutions in the global education sector.
Her diverse professional background includes competitiveness consulting, design-for-cost engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, and technology commercialization. She holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ming is a dedicated advocate for STEM education and women’s empowerment. She is the recipient of the 2024 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award, recognized for her impactful leadership and community engagement. A committed member of ATHENA in STEM for the past three years, Ming has led the ATHENA Speaks program, organized initiatives for middle and high school girls, and, in 2025, stepped into the role of Chair—guiding the entire program with both vision and heart. Her mission is to ignite curiosity, broaden horizons, and inspire girls from all backgrounds to see that a future in tech is not only possible—but theirs to create.

Rosanne Johnson
President, MicroMass
As President of MicroMass, Rosanne is responsible for leading the agency, expanding strategic offerings, and driving stronger client partnerships.
Rosanne has more than 20 years of experience with advertising, digital marketing, CRM, and data. She has worked across multiple industries, including CPG, beauty, retail, and health. Before joining MicroMass, Rosanne served as an executive director at VMLY&R, a New York-based global and customer experience agency.
Rosanne earned her BS and MBA from the University of Connecticut. She lives in Cary, NC with her husband, cats, and occasionally her two college-aged children. As a first-generation Italian American, she loves to cook, entertain large crowds, and tell engaging stories accompanied by plentiful hand gestures.

Daniel McQuade
Senior Marketing & Business Development Executive
I am a senior marketing & business development executive with expertise in providing branding & marketing services, business development strategies across all sales channels.
I have created and executed full-scale consumer branding programs from conception thru commercialization, including brand strategy and positioning, product development, packaging design, category management, the logistics of getting it on-shelf, and developing promotions utilizing emerging social and digital technologies to deliver sustainable product growth. Throughout the course of my career, I have created, worked with, and volunteered at many CSR and non-profit organizations in capacities ranging from being a founder, president, executive board member, and trustee providing over $7M in grants to a wide range of non-profit institutions focusing on education, and health and wellness programs.
Since 2009, I have been a noted speaker and marketing counselor for the Small Business Development Center at Columbia University (in association with the SBA). I continue to present workshops on marketing, branding, and workplace effectiveness to both new business entrepreneurs and expanding small business ventures.
In January 2013, I joined Dr. Jack McGourty, founder of Venture for All®, an affiliate of the Columbia Business School, as a director/adjunct professor developing the frameworks for a suite of world-class business school programs, delivering the classes globally both in-country and online. Venture for All® is a global initiative whose mission is to enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem in emerging markets through education and mentorship.
Currently, I am a Co-founder of KnowSeafood, a DTC Seafood platform for consumers who care where their food comes from. KnowSeafood is the direct-to-home seafood marketplace that is transforming how people purchase and enjoy seafood by bringing unparalleled levels of trust, transparency, variety, and quality to seafood sourcing.

Richard D. Mills
Financial Advisor | Edward Jones
With almost 30 years of senior level experience, Richard brings a very diverse skill set and experience to the Board of Athena of the Triangle.
After achieving his undergraduate degree in Accounting from North Carolina Wesleyan and a Master of Business Administration from Campbell University, Richard held senior level Finance and Accounting positions across the homebuilding, startup technology, consulting and public sector industries.
For over a decade now Richard has served as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones helping families achieve their long-term financial goals. Richard holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist and the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor designations from the College of Financial Planning. Richard is currently pursuing his Certified Financial Planner designation from the College of Financial Planning.
Over the years Richard has served on multiple Boards and has always sought to bring his very best to helping others.
A native North Carolinian, Richard has lived in Raleigh for 30 years. Richard has been married to his wife Laurie for 27 years and they enjoy spending time with family and friends whether here in Raleigh or at Sunset Beach, NC.

Michelle Proctor
Chief of Staff, Risk Research and Quantitative Solutions, SAS Institute
Michelle Proctor is the Chief of Staff for the Risk Research and Quantitative Solutions division of SAS. In this capacity she is responsible for the daily operations of 350 global resources across R&D, Risk & Finance Advisory Services, Portfolio Strategy and Operations. Michelle serves on the Diversity Council for SAS as the sponsor of the SAS Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) and is one of two leaders heading up the externally facing Women in Analytics (WIA) program. She is extremely passionate about STEM and volunteers her spare time to educational outreach through several non-profits.

Kristen Tabor
Tax Partner | KPMG
Kristen is a Tax Partner in KPMG’s Business Tax Services practice, focusing on Alternative Investment Funds. She has extensive experience providing tax compliance and tax planning services to U.S. and non-U.S. private equity, hedge and real estate funds. Kristen also serves on KPMG’s Southeast Asset Management Leadership team and is Partner Champion for the Raleigh office chapter of KPMG’s Network of Women (“KNOW”).

Adair Takikawa Salgado

Athena Theodorakis
Supply Chain & Risk Management Executive / Consultant
Athena has over twenty-five years of diverse corporate experience at Lord Corporation (now Parker Hannifin), in multiple roles spanning engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and business management, working with teams around the world. Since leaving Lord, Athena has been studying Enterprise Risk Management & Business Analytics at NC State University and providing consulting services in supply chain risk management. Athena holds an MBA from Penn State University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Becky Williams
Founder | REALM Leadership
An experienced business and people leader, Becky specializes in helping individuals and organizations identify and execute leadership practices to achieve their strategic goals. Over a 38-year career with LORD Corporation, she held multiple roles including design engineer, marketing director, and President of the Asia Pacific Region while living in Hong Kong for five years.
Since leaving LORD Corporation, Becky launched REALM Leadership, an executive coaching practice. She also serves as a Director of ISBM (The Institute of the Study of Business Marketing) focusing on curriculum development, and as a board member of Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina. Becky holds an MBA with a focus in marketing and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.

Tiamesha Walker-Smith
Executive Director | ATHENA of the Triangle
Tiamesha is a results-driven leader with several years of diverse experience. She brings her skills with employee and organizational development and implementing strategies and processes to ATHENA to effectively meet objectives. Adept at working at all levels in an organization, she has the ability to facilitate change to support organizational objectives. Additionally, her strong background in leadership, management, employee relations, public speaking, program planning and development, as well as linking rewards and recognition to performance and grant writing, further assist in meeting the organization’s mission and goals.
