The Athena of the Triangle Treasurer serves as a Board Officer and is a member of the Executive Committee. The Treasurer oversees the contracted bookkeeper and accounting firm in compiling financial data and submitting taxes. Primary responsibilities include retaining custody of all funds; making disbursements as properly authorized; and preparing financial reports for Board meetings and preparing the books for the annual audit. The Treasurer assures that AoT policies and non-profit best practices are followed with regards to financial management. The incumbent also fulfills any other requirements of a Director and Officer, and performs other duties as the need arises and/or as defined in the bylaws.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizations are required by law and by custom to maintain certain records and procedures, including:
1. Handle the money with high standards and set a tone of integrity.
The Treasurer should receive and reconcile the bank statements, set check writing and purchasing policies and procedures.
2. Manage the filings
Keep a calendar of filing requirements and assign responsibility, including Form 990 and Form 1099s.
3. Identify and manage risk
Coordination with our CPA and Insurance providers to both review and make recommendations to protect the organization and minimize risk. Take the lead in safeguarding AoT assets, data, and personal information.

Prepare and disseminate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to include Profit and Loss statements and performance to budget. Take the lead in the annual budget preparation process. Work with committees and Executive staff to prepare program budgets and make recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board at large for review.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Treasurer is accountable to the Board of Directors.
Communication
The Treasurer ensures that proper notification is given of financial reporting as specified in the bylaws.
Meetings
The Treasurer participates in Board meetings as a voting member and as a member the Executive committee. The Treasurer is also Chair of the Finance Committee and has the flexibility to form the committee from other board members and community volunteers and to leverage their expertise in managing AoT finances.
Signing Officer
The Treasurer may be designated by the Board of Directors and/or bylaws as one of the signing officers for certain documents. In this capacity, the Treasurer may be authorized or required to sign or countersign checks, correspondence, applications, reports, contracts or other documents on behalf of organization.
Filing of Documents
The Treasurer may be the registered agent with respect to the laws of the jurisdiction.; the person upon whom legal notice to the corporation is served, and responsible for ensuring that documents necessary to maintain the corporation are filed.
