ATHENA SERVANT LEADER AWARD
NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS
ATHENA of the Triangle’s mission is to support, develop, and honor emerging and established leaders and their allies.
The ATHENA Leadership Award celebrates exemplary leadership and is reflective of a quote by Plato: What is honored in a country will be cultivated there. Over 7,000 Recipients have been honored with the ATHENA Leadership Award since the program’s inception in 1982.
Awards Applications open March 19, 2024 and close April 30, 2024.
Recipients will be announced at the September 2024 Awards Luncheon
ELIGIBILITY
ATHENA Servant Leader Award Nominees must meet each of the following three criteria:
- Provide valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in their community
- Demonstrate being a catalyst for change by challenging organizational structures
- Demonstrate active efforts to address gender inequities either in professional settings or in the community
QUALIFICATIONS

- ATHENA Servant Leader Nominees may represent either the profit or not-for-profit sector.
- Has served as an ATHENA volunteer or support for a minimum of 2 years. ATHENA board members are exempt.
- Nomination must be made by an ATHENA Staff person, Program Committee Chair or Member, or ATHENA Volunteer.

COMPLETING THE FORM
- Nominations for the Servant Leader must be submitted using this nomination form and format.
- You may include supporting documents (articles, testimonials, etc) with your completed nomination form.
- The window for nominations is March 19, 2024 – April 30, 2024
THE PROCESS
A Selection Committee, made up of a diverse group of community leaders, will review all nominations and select the ATHENA Servant Leader Award Recipient. All Finalists will be invited to the Awards Luncheon at no cost. The Recipient will be announced at the ATHENA of the Triangle Awards Luncheon on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Nominators are encouraged to attend and can register to purchase tickets in early August.
