The Women’s Leadership Forum is an annual celebration across ATHENA communities to celebrate International Women’s Leadership Day. Rooted in the ATHENA Leadership Model, ATHENA of the Triangle will participate by arranging to have experienced women leaders meet and mentor emerging women leaders through a forum that facilitates meaningful connections.
The core of the program is simple and social: an established woman leader invites an emerging woman leader to attend lunch as her guest.
ATHENA of the Triangle will celebrate International Women’s Leadership Day on September 28, 2017 at our second annual Leadership Luncheon. During the interactive luncheon, attendees share ideas on leadership through facilitated table discussion on the ATHENA Leadership tenants, and emerging women leaders leave the event equipped with invaluable support, connections, and community.
We are currently actively seeking sponsors for this year's event. Please contact us if your organization is interested in sponsoring this event.
Developed through a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the ATHENA Leadership Model® identifies eight distinct attributes that are reflective of women’s contributions to leadership: Authentic Self, Relationships, Giving Back, Collaboration, Courageous Acts, Learning, Fierce Advocacy, Celebration and Joy.
These traits tend to be more intuitive to women. Combined with the strongest aspects of traditional leadership — taking risks, assertiveness, hard work — these emerging and transformative leadership styles meet the needs of emerging leaders and speak convincingly to women leaders who will head the organizations of the future.
